Black Box Recovered After Jet Crash Near Ankara
Yerlikaya explained to reporters that the debris covers an area of about 3 square kilometers (roughly 1.16 square miles).
"As a result of the work carried out at the scene by teams from the Transportation Safety Investigation Center of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the aircraft’s voice recorder was recovered in the wreckage area at 2.45 am (2345GMT Tuesday), and the black box was found at 3.20 am (local time),” he said.
He added that the process of analyzing and assessing these devices has already begun.
According to Yerlikaya, 408 personnel are engaged in operations at the site, supported by 103 ground vehicles and seven aircraft.
A Libyan delegation of 22 members—including five relatives of the victims, representatives from the Defense Ministry, and officials from the Interior Ministry—also arrived in Ankara.
“We are also very curious about [the cause of the crash], but this data will reveal the cause, and the authorities will share the findings with you,” Yerlikaya stated.
He extended condolences to the families of those who lost their lives, as well as to the Libyan government and people, describing the tragedy as a “tragic accident.”
