Turkish Stock Exchange Closes Wednesday Lower
The BIST 100 benchmark settled at 11,286.81 points, marking a 0.55% retreat from Tuesday's closing level. Trading commenced at 11,338.73 before deteriorating through the session, with the index surrendering 62.02 points by market close.
Intraday movements saw the gauge swing between a floor of 11,250.46 and a ceiling of 11,364.52 points.
Market breadth tilted negative, with 54 constituent indexes recording losses against 42 that posted gains.
Exchange activity generated 113.7 billion Turkish liras ($2.66 billion) in turnover, while the index's aggregate capitalization stood at 10.58 trillion liras ($248.1 billion).
Currency markets showed the dollar trading at 42.7235 liras at 6.20 pm local time (1520GMT), while the euro fetched 50.2425 and sterling commanded 57.1865 liras.
Commodities saw gold priced at $4,335.60 per troy ounce, with Brent crude futures settling at $59.70 per barrel.
