Turkey shoots down drone approaching Black Sea airspace

(MENAFN) Türkiye’s Defense Ministry announced on Monday that a drone, which was identified as being out of control while approaching Turkish airspace over the Black Sea, was successfully neutralized.

According to the ministry, the aerial object was detected and monitored in line with established protocols. To safeguard national airspace, both NATO-assigned and Turkish-controlled F-16 fighter jets were dispatched to respond.

After determining that the object was a drone that had gone out of control, it “was shot down in a secure area outside residential zones in order to prevent any potential harm,” the ministry confirmed.
